The Five Methods

of Face Yoga for Mature Skin

Just as we exercise our bodies, we also need to exercise our face. However, we don’t use weightlifting machines to accomplish our goals. Face yoga is designed to bring life back to your face. To tone, diminish fine lines and wrinkles, and to bring that youthful glow back to your skin. Face Yoga for Mature Skin does that with five methods inspired by Danielle Collins, face yoga expert:

Face Relaxation

Acupressure

Face Exercise

Did you know there are nearly 60 muscles in our face, head, and neck?  It takes a lot to smile, frown, laugh, and cry, not to mention talking and eating. These muscles need exercise to stay in shape, to be toned, and to work better.  Not only do the exercises tone the muscles, they also help to smooth and firm the skin covering them.

Some muscles need relaxation more than they need exercise. These are the muscles that carry a lot of our stress or that are overused. Take, for example, your forehead. How often do you think you frown in concentration or the many times a day you scrunch your forehead in conversation and thought? One of my face yoga concentrations is on the frontalis muscle, the big muscle belonging to your forehead. The jaw is another area. We use it a lot to talk and eat, but we also hold a lot of stress there, clenching the muscles and grinding our teeth. Face relaxation techniques help to calm and relax those overworked and stressed muscles.

Face Massage

Sometimes, a nice massage sounds like the perfect remedy for a particular stressful day, or week… or month! But a face massage is much more than a wellbeing treatment. It’s an important part of face yoga. Besides feeling great and relieving tension, a massage also boosts our circulation, which in turn improves lymphatic draining, and reduces the tension we hold. The face massage techniques will help your skin become more vibrant and healthy, showing off a more youthful glow.

Acupressure is an ancient Eastern tradition that has been used for generations for various reasons: to help reduce pain, stimulate pressure points that correspond to other parts in the body, and, in face yoga, it is useful as well. Using the right acupressure techniques, we will help drain tension and swelling, helping our qi (life force energy) to flow more effectively. This, in turn, helps our skin glow and benefits our wellbeing and overall health.

Wellbeing

Looking your best on the outside is only a part of face yoga. You want to feel good on the inside, too, right?  When we feel good on the inside, this shows on the outside. With this aspect of face yoga, we focus on positive affirmations, breathing, and other areas to help you feel and look your best.
