What Is Face Yoga?

We exercise our bodies to be healthier, our muscles toner, so doesn’t it make sense to exercise the muscles in our face as well?

Face yoga is a holistic way of toning and relaxing our face muscles. The techniques I use will help diminish the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines while also giving you the added benefit of a more youthful glow.

As we age, our bodies produce less collagen (a protein that helps skin’s elasticity, among other things). We can see evidence of this in mature skin such as hallowing in and around the eyes, and wrinkled, sagging, or crepey skin. Regular face yoga will increase blood flow and collagen production.

My Face Yoga for Mature Skin programs uses and blends five methods: Face Exercise, Face Relaxation, Face Massage, Acupressure, and Wellbeing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Face Yoga Work?

There are various studies available that show varying degrees of success—from little benefit to great success. The main thing to keep in mind is that it will not give you your 20-year-old skin back, and that, like with any exercise routine, it takes time and consistent, regular workouts, to achieve the most benefits.

Aside from appearance and beauty benefits, the Palsy Association and the Stroke Association now recommend some of the exercises for rehabilitation to gain strength and improve blood flow. Face yoga exercises have also helped Parkinson’s Disease patients to improve their speaking and swallowing.

One study I’d like to share from you comes from Danielle Collins, world leading face yoga expert. In her words:

“The Danielle Collins Face Yoga Method was part of a study done by the BBC, the UK’s most renowned TV station. I taught a doctor how to do the upper face workout, the lower face workout and 10 minutes of Facelift massage from this manual. He did this daily for 30 minutes for 20 weeks. His twin, also a doctor, had a PRP treatment (a “vampire facial”) which is a one-off treatment of £1,000 which involves needles. Both of the twins’ skin was analysed by a high-tech skin machine with a dermatologist before and after. For the twin that had the vampire facial, it was shown that his skin looked 2 years OLDER as a result of his treatment. The twin that did The Danielle Collins Face Yoga Method was proven to look 1 year YOUNGER after 20 weeks.”

Will Face Yoga Cause Wrinkles?

No, not if you’re doing it correctly. One of the goals of face yoga is to smooth and prevent lines and wrinkles. My Face Yoga for Mature Skin programs are designed to target these areas and reduce signs of aging. It is important that you learn techniques from a qualified professional. There are a lot of face yoga classes, videos, and training that can cause wrinkles and even damage the skin. So just be cautious and do your homework.

How Long Before I See Results?

This varies from person to person and is dependent on a few factors such as regular daily practice and lifestyle. You can see some immediate results in the eye area with reduced puffiness and a healthy glow to the skin after exercises. Usually, after two weeks of regular daily practice, you will see and feel greater results, and after a few months, you should notice a nice improvement.

What If I Have Skin Problems?

Face yoga is a natural and gentle technique, but if you have any concerns, it is best to talk to your doctor before starting any programs.

About Me

My name is Kelli Ballard, and I trained under Danielle Collins – world leading face yoga expert. My teaching certification is accredited by both the International Institute for Complementary Therapists and International Practitioners of Holistic Medicine.

I also hold certificates in qua sha and reflexology; facial reflexology, Thai hand reflexology, lymphatic reflexology, and foot massage.

I got into face yoga because I wanted to feel and look better, and this technique and practice is a natural and healthy way to do so. I’ll admit, I haven’t always lived a healthy lifestyle, and I still have my vices, such as sugar, but face yoga is about wellbeing inside and out, and it has helped me to develop much healthier habits.

I was skeptical when I first tried it, then ecstatic when I saw results and felt better. It might be hard to believe, but doing face yoga daily has given me more energy and I’m able to focus better – which is a good thing since I am a professional writer and editor.

I believe so much in face yoga that I decided to become a certified instructor and help others to look and feel better.

Face yoga can be done at any adult age, but I wanted to focus on those, like myself, with mature skin. Like me, you may have tried all kinds of “guaranteed” creams, lifting serums, and magic makeup that promises to make you look ten years younger, only to be seriously disappointed.

Worse than spending all that money on quick fixes and seeing little to no results is that these products may contain ingredients that harm your skin instead. That is why I turned to face yoga, to work on myself so that I can feel and look the best me—naturally.

When looking at yourself in the mirror, don’t focus on what you consider flaws. Remember, you are beautiful as you are! Face yoga is just a technique to help you feel and look better, becoming the best YOU!

I look forward to helping you along this journey of natural health and beauty!
