Hands-Free Face Yoga

Did you know there’s such as thing as “Hands-Free” face yoga?

It’s real, and it comes in really handy when you don’t have time to wash your hands and face first, or if you’re at work and don’t want to be waving your hands all over the place.

Hands-free face yoga can be done anywhere, at any time. You can do it while watching television, listening to your favorite podcast or music station, or even while lying in bed getting ready to go to sleep.

In fact, practicing hands-free face yoga before falling asleep can help relax your body and mind, promoting a restful sleep.


Some Hands-Free Face Yoga Exercises

There are a lot of face yoga exercises you can do without using your hands that will still be very productive and effective. Here are just a few:

Eyes Wide Open

Look at something straight in front of you and open your eyes as wide as they’ll go, then hold the position for 15 seconds.

Slowly close your eyes, take a couple of deep breaths in and out, then repeat the exercise two more times.

Roll the Eyes

Look straight ahead then look up as far as you can. Next, look down, then to each side. Take the movements slow to really make them work. Repeat two more times.

Tongue Twister

Trace the inside of your lips with your tongue. Be sure to do this very slowly to really work these muscles. Go first in one direction three times, then the other three times.

This exercise is so powerful, you only need to do one repetition. You should feel it in your tongue, jaw, and even your cheeks.

Stretching

Stretching and breathing are very important parts of any face yoga routine. If you’re sitting at a desk, watching a movie, or any other sedentary activity, you can still incorporate stretching and breathing.

Neck stretches are especially wonderful. Rolling your neck in a circle or from side to side really helps loosen the muscles and relief tension. It also gets the circulation flowing.

Please remember to only do what is comfortable. Face yoga, including stretching, should never be painful. If you start to feel discomfort, either reduce the exercise or stop all together.
